A Little History
In 1992, Keith Tyner and Jim Pinkston decided to team up to start a financial services company. The business was centered on the purpose of honoring families, colleagues, clients and suppliers while providing honest, objective direction to families regarding their finances. In starting their business, Jim and Keith learned quickly that listening was key to building a successful planning business.
Initially, the two were associated with a local credit union, but they later chose to align with LPL Financial in order to establish Gimbal Financial. Instead of selling a particular product or financial instrument, they wanted to be able to offer solutions that best met the individual needs of each client. LPL Financial is "the nation’s largest independent broker-dealer*, a top RIA custodian, and a leading independent consultant to retirement plans." They decided that the affiliation would expand the options available to their clients. They chose the name Gimbal as a reference to a device that holds a compass steady when going through rough waters. They felt it was symbolic of their mission.
Today, the Gimbal Financial team is still passionate about people and investments. We combine our knowledge of investments and our experience in the industry to help our clients make well-informed decisions in an ever-changing financial climate. We believe a disciplined approach to buying and selling investments can offer investors confidence in uncertain times and helps remove emotions from investing.
As a result of this strategy, our firm has grown. Gimbal Financial now serves clients in Fishers and around Indianapolis, as well as in many states around the country.
To accommodate our growing client base, Gimbal Financial has grown its staff as well. In 2000, advisor Henry Hernandez was added to the team, and in 2003, advisor Doug Shrieve joined Gimbal. Other team members have been added along the way.
In 2014, the firms moved to a new office on Lantern Road. Eventually the firm decided to form two teams, each led by a founding advisor so that Gimbal could continue to deliver the high level of customer service and satisfaction our clients have come to expect. The firm benefits from each of our founders’ unique perspectives.
